Why we train our people to serve you best At The Athlete‘s Foot we pride ourselves on our expertise and the service we deliver to our customers, and this hasn‘t happened by chance. The Athlete‘s Foot has created an unsurpassed service culture, which has been nurtured over the 30+ years we have successfully been in business across Australia and New Zealand. At The Athlete‘s Foot every new staff member is taken through the ‘Fit Technician’ training program ensuring they are confident to attend to each customer’s needs the minute they hit the sales floor. The on-going training accreditations ensure that they are continually learning the expertise of correct shoe fitting, in addition to keeping up to date with the ever changing technical features of our vast product range. Most importantly, our staff need to know how and why each individual product will match the needs and foot type of each customer - our definition of ‘Fit‘. The training never ends! Our training is always evolving - as witnessed by the introduction of Fitprint® - the most advanced computerised shoe-fitting system in the country! This complimentary fitting service can only be found at The Athlete‘s Foot! Over the course of the year our key suppliers also provide staff training on a national level via face to face training evenings, and online training is produced to supplement this process, and also cover regional areas. In addition, our Daily Training Questions, fitting tips and other educational offerings are provided. There are three key accreditations encapsulated in The Athlete‘s Foot Training program: 1. The Fit Technician’s Training Program (Accredited Fit Technician) Orientation - Staff learn about our corporate philosophy, policies and procedures, our market position, an introduction to our store service process (greet and seat rules), basic biomechanics and anatomy of the foot. The Fit Technician’s Certificate - Staff learn about more advanced service skills and are provided with information about the different foot types and the characteristics of footwear. They are taught how to distinguish a certain foot type from another and to match it to a shoe model that offers all of the support and cushioning needed to ensure the most comfortable fit. 2. The Fit Specialist Training Program (Accredited Fit Specialist) Staff are intensely trained on the benefits of Fitprint® and matching this to the gait cycle, in addition to learning specialised fitting techniques for those “hard to fit feet”. 3. Fit University Training Program (Accredited Master Fit Technician) A two day intensive training course called "Fit University" incorporates training sessions on advanced service skills, shoe fitting techniques, basic foot anatomy and physiology, and an understanding of sports injuries and impact they have on fitting. This program is run in conjunction with a podiatrist and all attendees must pass the written and practical assessments to qualify for the prestigious title of "Master Fit Technician" - the ultimate achievement! These training elements are provided to all team members ongoing, ensuring that they are constantly soaking up information to ensure that The Athlete‘s Foot, through our people, remain at the top of our field when it comes to the correct fitting of footwear.
